Sometimes I See The Future
By Choy Ka Fai
In Sometimes I see The Future, Choy Ka Fai examines telepresence and digitally circulating dances from a cosplay perspective. Cosplay allows for a certain manifestation of being, a way to create new communities – as well as the simultaneous experience of being different. Beyond playful self-expression and popular entertainment, cosplaying here becomes the starting point for an investigation of post-human worlds.
"Dance exists everywhere on our social media. I create an extreme self-portrait inspired by artificial intelligence, render farms, chatbots, cosplays, Twitch streaming, and virtual YouTubers. However, it is not a real self-portrait, it is rather what we all want/can/will be in the age of accelerated digital culture. I am interested in the discourse on how we are approaching Web 3.0, how we will decentralise technology in the future, and how we can be human in the future." (Choy Ka Fai)
